I started out liking this series. Now I find myself beginning to dislike the heroine - not a good sign. I was already ambivalent toward her husband, whose sole purpose apparently to be the larger the life, rich, father-figure/sex partner for our tiny, petite heroine. I lost count of how many times we were told how small she was, how rich they were, his much he loved his Mercedes, over and over and over. Definitely not recommended

Everyone in town knew that Jack and Roe did not get along, but its not like Roe could be in two places at once so the police start looking for other suspects. But then Roe has an argument with her assistant at the library and she turns up brutally beaten the next day and her open purse is found on the hood of her bodyguard's car. An admirer sends her flowers with no name attached, her cat is suddenly sporting a new ribbon around his collar, her ex-lover is stabbed, and that is just the beginning. Roe has been found in the middle of murder and mayhem before, but this time, it's personal...
I enjoyed this book, just as I have enjoyed all of the Aurora Teagarden series, but this one was not as good as the previous books. Roe solved the crimes a little too easily and there was a little too much going on for no one else to spot that the connection between all of the goings-on was Roe herself. I know it is a small police force, but come on. Anyway, Charlaine Harris' writing style is still very engaging and clear. I always enjoy her characters and there were some new people to meet in this book that were fun to get to know because they were a little different. I just wish that the plot had been a little bit better developed and solved. I felt that the author was rushing to finish this one and just decided to end it one day, wrote the last couple of pages and called it done. Still, if you have enjoyed her other books, you will enjoy this one and, if you are like me, you like to read a series all the way through, so find a cheap copy.
As usual, Charlaine Harris never disappoints! This time the colorful characters of Lawrencetown are all amuck with the drama of someone people that Roe has not had good interactions with. You gotta read this one because I didn't see this end coming!!!
I've enjoyed reading all the Aurora Teagarden novels because I like the characters and the story development. However, I wish I hadn't already watched the made for TV movies based on these books because the character interactions and story lines are quite different.
This is one of Ms. Harris' earlier books and it shows in the writing. There are a few plot errors from book to book in the series but mainly noticeable if you read them back to back like I did. Overall a good book and only slightly predictable ending. It is very different from the made for T.V. movies!
The best part of the Aurora Teagarten books is how Charlaine Harris keeps her readers guessing. I even remember reading this book a few years ago, and I still didn't figure it out.
I love the characters, how Aurora's marriage to Martin is passionate, but not perfect because what in life is? And I love Angel. I might want to be Angel if I were seven inches taller, 80 lbs lighter, and 35 years younger. instead, I will keep reading the series
This book was by far the most convoluted. I won't give away any spoilers, but the answer to the mystery was completely random. There were no hints of the motive. It was not plausible. Race relations have gotten even worse. The charm that the first few books had was largely lost, but I think that came with martin.
I read the reviews before I purchased this ebook and they were right. Things were not as twisty-turny as they often are with Ms. Harris' books. The main character is becoming sort of weak in this book where in all previous stories she is a force to be reckoned with. I liked it, I read it, but it was up to the usual.
